Inferring Queue State by Measuring Delay in a WiFi Network

چکیده
Packet round trip time is a quantity that is easy to measure for end hosts and applications. In many wired networks, the round trip time can be used to estimate how full network buffers are because of relatively simple relationships between buffer occupancy and drain time. Thus RTT has been exploited for purposes such as congestion control and bandwidth measurement. In some networks, such as 802.11 networks, the buffer drain times show considerable variability due to the random nature of the MAC service. We examine some of the problems faced when using round trip time measurements in these networks, particularly in relation to congestion control.

متن کاملUnreliable Server Mx/G/1 Queue with Loss-delay, Balking and Second Optional Service
This investigation deals with MX/G/1 queueing model with setup, bulk- arrival, loss-delay and balking. The provision of second optional service apart from essential service by an unreliable server is taken into consideration. We assume that the delay customers join the queue when server is busy whereas loss customers depart from the system. After receiving the essential service, the customers m...

Radio Frequency based Device-Free Localization (RFDFL) is an emerging localization technique without requirements of attaching any electronic device to a target. The target can be localized by means of measuring the shadowing of received signal strength caused by the target. However, the accuracy of RFDFL deteriorates seriously in environment with WiFi interference. State-of-the-art methods do ...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Energy-Performance Tradeoff for Delayed Mobile Offloading
Mobile cloud offloading that migrates heavy computation from mobile devices to powerful cloud servers through communication networks can alleviate the hardware limitations of mobile devices for higher performance and energy saving. Different applications usually give different relative importance to the factors of response time and energy consumption. In this paper, we investigate two types of ...
